During Term 3, Prep KP learnt about the different types of transport. The children decided that it would be a good idea to visit the Brisbane airport. We thought it would be fun to catch the airtrain.
So, on 10 September, we met at the Coomera train station and boarded the train. We enjoyed the view from the train as we journeyed north.
 
We went to both the International and domestic airports. We were able to see planes landing and taking off, the check-in desks and the baggage carousels. We had our bags checked by the x-ray machines and watched while planes were loaded with baggage, fuel and food.
 
We had a great day and we were all very tired when we got back to Coomera train station.

2/3SC Investigates Math Puzzles |

2/3SC are currently in the middle of a really fun maths investigation. We have been exploring lots of different puzzles that use math concepts. We have played with spinners, dice, puzzles and magic cups! We have learnt about odd and even numbers, number patterns, finding the missing number and all of the operations. We have also examined writing the rules and instructions for a game and creating a suitable scorecard! Now that we have all of our background knowledge we have started planning our own maths puzzle for the 2/3 SC Maths Expo! We can't wait to play our classmates games! |

Community Helpers in Prep ST |

|
This term Prep ST are learning about people who help us in the community. Prep ST have set up a Post Office where we have been busy writing each other mail to be delivered into our own personal mail boxes. We also have a Fire Station where we act out real life emergencies and fill in incident reports.
It’s only week 3 but we’re already so keen! We can’t wait till our Community Services day in September when we’ll get to meet some real life Community Helpers!

1JE's Author Study
1JE are currently learning about different authors. Our first author study is Eric Carle. We have listened to a variety of Eric Carle books and participated in a number of activities related to his books. We especially love "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and enjoyed making our own front covers using a similar art technique that Eric Carle uses to illustrate his books! |
