Coomera Celebrates NAIDOC Day |

On Friday 10th August, Coomera State School celebrated NAIDOC day. The whole school was involved in painting a mural and totem poles progressively throughout the day.

The students were also entertained by the very talented year 6 and 7 students who performed the Aboriginal Dreaming story 'Tiddalik'.
Students engaged in many activities in their classroom that were reflective of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Mask making, dhari's, boomerang designing were all but a few of the activities that students were involved in.
Students were also able to watch the Saibai Islanders dancers on their smart boards and projectors.

A fantastic day was had by all and beautiful memories are now imprinted on the wall for all to see and admire.

A big thank you to everyone for making it such a special, cultural day!

Schools undertake a review and reporting process each year and a more major process every three years. In 2007, we are due a three year or Triennial Review. Part of that process will involve collecting information from parents in the form of a survey or surveys. We are working with a Victorian University to conduct on-line surveys and collate the results for the review. In next week’s newsletter, I will publish a website, where parents may visit to complete the surveys. Parents who do not have internet access may be able to complete the surveys at a Gold Coast Library or at school. More information on this will be explained in the Coomera Link next week. |

Annual Operational Plan Priorities 2007 |

Our Annual Operational Plan is completed for 2007. It contains eleven priorities for the year. These mainly deal with improvements to student learning outcomes, teaching and learning and student support. The classroom learning environment is another area which receives attention. |
