3KP and 3KW have been investigating a life and living unit this term. We have been learning about life cycles; growing plants and conducting many fantastic experiments.
On Wednesday 18 June, the year 3 students travelled to Mt Coot-tha to the Botanic Gardens. We learnt about many different types of plants such as arid, aquatic and terrestrial. We pretended to be plant scientists and took part in a "plant connections" lesson.
A great day was had by all!
On our excursion to the Botanic Gardens, we got to see the most amazing greenhouse. It was called the 'tropical dome'.
3KW and 3KP love looking after our classroom plants. We need to take them out each day and water them. They have grown so much already!
Junior Sports Carnival 2008
On Friday the 13th of June Coomera State School was a flurry of colour as students in the junior school dressed in their team colours for the day.
The atmosphere was electric as children marched around the oval in their house colours showing true team spirit.
This was followed by morning rotations and relays, including a parent/teacher race.
The points were totalled at the end of the day with Banksia winning the trophy overall.
Congratulations to Mrs Felton who did an exceptional job organising the day, which ran very smoothly.
What have we been up to in 4HK and 4CS?
In 4HK and 4CS we have had a very busy term. We have been looking at the Water Cycle and created a Power Point Presentation about "Water Saving." In Technology we designed and made 'Water Catchers" that collected rain and watered plants. We also visited White Water World and learnt about safety at the beach with the Life saver girls.
