Music

Music Program

Lower primary students enjoy simple songs and games to develop an awareness of beat, rhythm and self-expression.
 
Middle primary students are able to read and perform basic notation with percussion instruments and recorders.
 
Upper primary students study and perform music from various styles and cultural influences.
Senior choir is offered weekly at lunchtime for those students wishing to extend their vocal range, quality and repertoire.

Instrumental Music

A large range of musical instruments are available for students to learn.
String Instruments are offered from the beginning of year 3.
 
These include:
• Violin
• Viola
• Cello
 
Brass, woodwind and percussion instruments are offered from year 5.
These include:
• Trumpet
• French horn
• Trombone
• Euphonium
• Flute
• Clarinet
• Saxophone
• and various tuned and un-tuned percussion.
Piano, keyboard and 6 stringed guitar (acoustic and electric) are not being offered at this stage.
Many of these instruments are available for hire through the school.Places can be limited, particularly with certain instruments. Students have 1 half hour lesson per week as well as participating in band or an ensemble.
