Bilinba Resource Centre
Opening Hours: 8:55 a.m. to 9:45 and 11:30 to 11:55 am and 1:30pm - 2pm daily. It is NOT open before school and the centre is always closed between 9:45 to 11:30
Closed at first break. Open second break.
Students can visit the library at second break for borrowing, quizzing, reading, games and lego.
Students may borrow two books at a time and must have a library bag to borrow.
Students are encouraged to deposit their returns in the return chute. All classes visit the library for borrowing, once a week. The Centre boasts one of the largest school collections on the Gold Coast. Students are encouraged to partake in either the School's home reading program or the Lexile reading program. Parent volunteers help to facilitate the home reading program, conducting borrowing between 8:50 and 10:00 a.m. each day.

Borrowing
Students must have a library bag to borrow. Please no plastic bags.
Students must use a shelf marker when choosing a book from the shelf.
2 books may be borrowed for a period of 14 days.
Lexile Program (Litpro)
As soon as students show that they can read and comprehend texts at Independent Level 25 (they have completed home reading program) they can move on to Lexile Reading. Students in this program read novels and answer questions about those novels on-line to gain points and awards. Certificates, ribbons and medals are awarded for milestones and significant effort in novel (chapter book) reading.
Book Fairs
We now run one Book Fair each year. Money raised is used to buy much needed resources for the Bilinba Centre.
Volunteers
We always need help with covering books. Any parents who have some spare time to help cover books, this would be greatly appreciated.
